From the Desk of Superintendent Xavier M. Hodo, Sr. I want to begin by apologizing for the late message, but I felt it was important to inform the entire Helena-West Helena School District that we will be out of school tomorrow due to a power outage that has impacted the district. After maintaining close communication with city leadership, we were advised that the severity of the outage, downed power lines, and their location make it uncertain that power will be restored during the morning hours. The continued adverse weather conditions further complicate restoration efforts. Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to cancel school for the entire district tomorrow. The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority. Please stay safe, and we will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. Cordially, Dr. Xavier M. Hodo, Sr.

Central High School seniors recently visited another college—the University of Central Arkansas! They toured the campus, joined in “Bear Facts Day” festivities, and explored the physical therapy profession by participating in a hands-on lab at the science department. 🔬 During the lab, they learned about various tools and equipment, spoke with doctoral students about anatomy, and even interacted with real human organs! It was a day of fun and real-world education! 💡

At this month’s Rotary Club meeting, four CHS students stole the show by sharing their incredible experiences from the Rotary Young Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp! The camp offered opportunities for the students to challenge themselves with activities such as zip-lining, rock climbing, and networking—all while discovering new strengths and building relationships. They also learned valuable lessons in trust, teamwork, facing fears, and having fun!
